A health center that
knows one's experiences may have been painful but do not have to be worthless
SPARK Wellness' mission is to spark change in order to help individuals achieve personal growth and heal from trauma or mental health disorders. Many people struggle with negative core beliefs, such as "I'm not good enough" or "I am unworthy/incapable". These beliefs hold them back from using skills learned from therapists, on social media, or in self-help books. Utilizing a combination of strategies, including EMDR, Hypnotherapy, CBT and other psychodynamic therapy models, SPARK Wellness seeks to assist people achieve happiness and fulfillment in life.
Life today requires many of us to juggle multiple responsibilities - as a partner/spouse, parent, employee, teammate, business owner, CEO of the family, housekeeper, coach, or student. Achieving success in one role can be challenging in itself, thus finding happiness and contentment in numerous roles requires performance at a high level. A goal at SPARK Wellness is to stimulate that performance while finding and embracing one's true authenticity.

about stephanie
Stephanie Hibbard, LCSW-C has been helping clients expand their lives with psychotherapy since 2006. She created SPARK Wellness as a space for her to focus on connecting with and helping teens & adults who are looking to find their true potential and lead the life that they envision. As a therapist, Stephanie utilizes a combination of approaches including EMDR, CBT, mindfulness, somatic and hypno-informed work to reach the deeper levels of what holds people back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.
As a coach, Stephanie uses her passion for self-help and humor to help clients identify specific forward thinking to achieve goals. Coaching is centered on gaining specific skills or motivation versus the deeper dive of EMDR or other therapeutic modalities. Coaching can be an adjunct to therapy or a stand alone modality focused on addressing challenges not associated with a mental health diagnosis.
Stephanie believes that individuals can find and achieve a life worth living even in the most difficult of circumstances. One of her favorite quotes is "It's not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters." - Epictetus. Easier said than done - especially in the face of financial stress, medical issues, marriage discord, parenting stress, and lost sense of purpose, not to mention political climate, environmental climate, and technology/generational changes. Years of working with people fighting to find their way has strengthened Stephanie's belief in Epictetus' quote and the potential that lies within.
Stephanie obtained her Master's degree at New York University’s School of Social Work. Her undergraduate degree is from Towson University.

How do I know if I need coaching or therapy? If you are looking to find relief from symptoms of acute PTSD, anxiety, depression or other mental disorders, psychotherapy is recommended. Coaching is focused on specific goals and is based on skills with performance and achievement at the forefront. In coaching, therapy may be identified as a goal to address the deeper psychology at play. Many clients choose therapy with personal growth and performance as the goal because they want to address past issues or subconscious beliefs holding them back from achievement. Give Stephanie a call to identify the best route for you.
What is EMDR? EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. EMDR is a therapy of past, present and future. What that means is that past events do not have to continue to control the experience of the present or the future. It can also lessen the impact of isolated traumatic events which can be a brief approach to treatment. EMDR was named based on it's use of eye movements similar to how natural processes occur during REM sleep. It has evolved into a structured approach that uses movements or alternate tapping (called bi-lateral stimulation). It has been researched with demonstrated effectiveness in the treatment of stress related disorders and trauma. For more information follow this link: EMDR
